Import & Sync Bank Transactions into Google Sheets

Pull live transactions from all your linked accounts into a spreadsheet you own, and keep them up to date with incremental sync.

BudgetSheet connects to your banks through Plaid and writes transactions directly into your Google Sheet. Fetch a date range when you need a catch-up, or run Sync to add, update, and remove changes since your last import. Every row lands in BSA_Transactions with clean Business names and full statement Descriptions, ready for pivot tables, formulas, or whatever budget you build.

Why import bank transactions into a spreadsheet?

Spreadsheets give you full control over how you view and analyze money. BudgetSheet removes the tedious part of logging into each bank, exporting CSV files, and copy-pasting rows by piping live data straight into Google Sheets.

  • Import from checking, savings, credit cards, and more via Plaid
  • Sync only what changed since your last run: adds, updates, and removals
  • Pending transactions update in place when they settle
  • Smart deduplication prevents duplicate rows on reconnects
  • Business and Description columns give you both friendly merchant names and full statement text

Fetch vs. Sync

Use Fetch when you want transactions for a specific date range. It works well for first-time imports or catching up after a break. Use Sync for day-to-day maintenance: it pulls incremental changes from Plaid so your sheet stays current without re-importing everything.

How It Works

  1. Step 1: Install BudgetSheet and run Setup to create the BSA_Transactions sheet in your spreadsheet.
  2. Step 2: Link your bank accounts through Plaid from the BudgetSheet sidebar.
  3. Step 3: Run Fetch for a date range, or Sync to pull incremental changes since your last import.
  4. Step 4: Optionally enable Autofetch to run imports automatically every night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can BudgetSheet import credit card transactions into Google Sheets?
Yes. BudgetSheet imports transactions from credit cards, checking accounts, savings accounts, and other account types supported by Plaid. All transactions go into your BSA_Transactions sheet.
What is the difference between Fetch and Sync?
Fetch imports transactions for a date range you choose. Sync uses Plaid incremental sync to add, update, and remove transactions since your last sync, which keeps your sheet current without re-downloading full history.
Does BudgetSheet store my transactions on its servers?
No. Transaction data passes through to your Google Sheet. Your spreadsheet is the source of truth, and BudgetSheet does not keep a copy of your banking data in its database.
How does BudgetSheet prevent duplicate transactions?
Each row gets a TransactionID that tracks the source ID and a content fingerprint. When you reconnect an account or re-import, BudgetSheet skips rows that already exist on your sheet.
