Automatically Fetch Bank Transactions Every Night
Autofetch runs on a daily schedule so your Google Sheet always has the latest transactions and balances, with no manual exports required.
Autofetch is BudgetSheet's hands-off mode. Once enabled, a Google Apps Script clock trigger runs every day and imports new transactions from all your linked accounts into BSA_Transactions. Balances update on the BSA_Balances sheet at the same time. Choose the default overnight window or pick a custom daily run time that fits your schedule.
Set it and forget it
Manual imports work great when you are actively budgeting, but most people want their spreadsheet ready before they sit down with coffee. Autofetch handles the repetitive work overnight so you always start from current data.
- Imports new transactions from every linked account automatically
- Updates account balances on each run
- Runs via Google Apps Script, so you never need to keep the spreadsheet open
- Choose automatic overnight timing or a custom daily run time
- Available on all paid BudgetSheet plans
Works alongside Sync
Autofetch uses the same import pipeline as manual Fetch and Sync. Category rules apply, duplicates are skipped, and pending transactions update when they settle. You can still run a manual import anytime from the BudgetSheet menu.

How It Works
- Step 1: Link at least one bank account and run an initial transaction import.
- Step 2: Open the BudgetSheet sidebar and go to Autofetch settings.
- Step 3: Enable Autofetch and choose your preferred daily run time.
- Step 4: BudgetSheet installs a Google Apps Script trigger that runs automatically each day.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to keep my spreadsheet open for Autofetch to run?
- No. Autofetch runs through a Google Apps Script time-based trigger installed in your spreadsheet. Google executes the script on schedule even when you are not viewing the sheet.
- Is Autofetch included in the free trial?
- Autofetch is available on all paid BudgetSheet plans. During your 15-day free trial you can test manual Fetch and Sync; upgrade to a paid plan to enable Autofetch.
- Can I choose when Autofetch runs?
- Yes. You can use the default overnight schedule or set a custom daily run time from the Autofetch settings in the BudgetSheet sidebar.
- Does Autofetch update account balances too?
- Yes. Each Autofetch run imports new transactions and writes updated balances to the BSA_Balances sheet for all linked accounts.
