Investment Accounts - Stock Holdings in Google Sheets

BudgetSheet now supports investment accounts! Pro and Business users can import their investment holdings and transactions from any brokerage linked via Plaid directly into their Google Sheets spreadsheet.

Investment Holdings — BSA_InvestmentHoldings

The new Import Holdings button in the Investments sidebar page fetches your current positions and writes them to a dedicated BSA_InvestmentHoldings sheet. Each row represents one security across all your linked investment accounts.

Holdings include:

• CurrentPrice — live price per share via GOOGLEFINANCE, updated automatically whenever the sheet is open
• PriceDay — the end-of-day price reported by your broker at the time of import
• DayChange — percentage change between the live price and the broker's end-of-day price
• CurrentValue — live price × quantity, calculated automatically
• CostBasis — your total cost basis as reported by your broker
• TotalChange — percentage return versus cost basis
• Sector — sector classification for each security

A Portfolio Total row is automatically appended at the bottom, summing CurrentValue and CostBasis and showing your overall weighted portfolio return.

All percentage columns are color-coded: green for gains, red for losses, and no color for neutral or empty cells.

Investment Transactions — BSA_InvestmentTransactions

The Import Transactions section lets you pull investment transactions for any date range into a BSA_InvestmentTransactions sheet. Each row represents a single buy, sell, or other investment event.

Transaction columns include:

• CurrentPrice — live GOOGLEFINANCE price for the security
• CurrentValue — current market value of the position (CurrentPrice × quantity)
• Change — percentage gain or loss versus the price at the time of the transaction, with direction adjusted for buys vs. sells
• Fees — transaction fees as reported by your broker

Like holdings, the Change and CurrentPrice columns are color-coded to show performance at a glance.
